Buckle up and head to NYC to see the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree. This virtual field trip covers the history of the tree, how the tree is celebrated today, a history of the tradition of Christmas trees, and more!
This virtual field trip will start by giving your students some hints as to where they will be traveling. Students will make predictions. Students will access prior knowledge about New York City.
Your students will then hop on board a flight to JFK airport. While in flight— you can listen to a read-aloud of Red and Lulu by Matt Tavares. Students will then touchdown at JFK.
Students will then see a short Welcome to NYC video, compare Rockefeller Center then and now, and take a look at a Livestream of the tree!
Students will also explore some additional history, learn about a real-life Red and lulu story, listen to another read-aloud about Rocky the Owl and learn to draw a cardinal like the one in Red and Lulu!
