Virtual Field Trip: Christmas Around the World

USD 4.00

Hello! Thank you for your interest in my Christmas Around the World Virtual Field Trip. This field trip will take you all over the world to learn how people celebrate Christmas. This field trip highlights the following countries: the United States, Mexico, the Netherlands, Italy, Egypt, China, Denmark, Greece, Kenya, Argentina, and India.

To start the virtual field trip, students will be given clues as to which holiday they will be learning about. Students will make predictions. Then students will build prior knowledge. This will give students the opportunity to share what they already know about Christmas or how their families celebrate Christmas. Students will then learn a brief history of Christmas, why Christmas is celebrated all over the world and how/why it looks different all over the world. There is a slide for each of the countries listed above. Each country includes information, a picture or video, or read aloud.

After learning about each country students will/can:

-Watch a video and learn to say “Merry Christmas” in different languages

-Watch a video about Christmas Dinner Around the World.

-Learn about the history of Gingerbread

-Decorate their very own Gingerbread person

-Learn the history of Christmas Trees

-Watch National Geographic: Nature Boom Time Christmas Trees

-Look at a Map of US “Christmas” Towns (practice mapping skills)

-Create & Decorate their own Christmas Town

-Listen to a Read Aloud of “Red and Lulu” by Matt Tavares (Fictional story of the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree + History of the Tree)

-Learn about the Ugly Christmas Sweater Tradition

-Create their own “Ugly” Christmas Sweater

-Research Christmas in other Countries (Research Graphic Organizer included)

-Comprehension Check

Frequently Asked Questions:

Is this a religion-focused virtual field trip?
